Collateral: Mass Influence and the Design of Persuasion

As a part of the CMU Graphic Design program's tradition, my graduating class was responsible for choosing, researching, designing around a singular topic. That topic? Graphic design's role in media, perception, and influence. I, along with fourteen other graphic design seniors, put this exhibit together in under four months.

Trusting the Process

As one of the more experience video editors in my class, I was tasked with developing videos that would be projected overtop of the printed vinyl content. This proved to be a unique challenge, as the idea was to add motion to the exhibit without taking away from it or distracting from the content. I did this by creating very simple overlays that were also on the obscure side.

Lots of Info Within Very Little Space

This assignment started out with a certain amount of content to fit in, an already established hierarchy on the wall, and a general idea of what this graphic should look like. Getting started while keeping that in mind was really challenging! There's only so many ways that the text could fit inside a head shape while also staying organized, so I decided to divvy it up into triangles that matched the other elements of the exhibit. Lot's of spacing edits later here we are!
