Fuzzy Socks On The Beach Book of Original Poetry

Incorporating the Cover Artwork
Trying to add an already-developed artwork to a book cover design proved more difficult than I initially imagined it would be. Because the initial artwork dealt with the same themes and topics found within the book itself, I wanted to stay true to the piece as I worked the cover design around it.

What started as a single artwork submitted to Central Michigan University’s Juried Student Exhibition (framed picture below on the right), quickly became a project that embodied multiple passions.
While referencing how other designers approached books of poetry, I designed and illustrated a collection of original poetry from cover to cover using mainly Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
Inspiration From Other Books
I take great inspiration from the world around me and reading is a big hobby of mine. So when designing the outer cover, I really wanted to play with continuing the cover design onto the back, as that's a design choice I enjoy seeing in other books.
